The cost of a taxi driving test lesson is £20.00 per hour.
Taxi test lessons can be taken in the School car or the driver's own car. There is no discount if lessons are taken in the driver's own car.
The driver must be 21 years of age or over and have held a full clean driving licence for at least 12 months that is applicable to the group of vehicle they wish to drive and be considered to be a 'fit and proper' person.
The taxi test is taken from the Council Works Department on Staniforth Road, Darnall and lasts for approximately 60 minutes. The test contains the four manoeuvres Turn in the Road, Left Reverse, Right Reverse and Parallel Parking. The Emergency Stop exercise is performed at random in one in three tests. On a taxi test, ten or more driving faults or one serious/dangerous fault will result in a fail, nine or less driving faults would be a pass.
Tests are readily available at a cost of £52.50, which must be paid in cash and can be booked at the Council Works Department. You must produce your valid signed driving licence or both parts of your photocard licence, along with three passport size photographs when applying for and taking the test.
