YOU MUST:

Hold a full British or Northern Ireland unrestricted car driving licence.

Have held a full driving licence for at least four years in the six years proceeding the date of application.

Not have been disqualified from driving at any time within the four years proceeding the date of application.

Be of good character (motoring and non-motoring offences will be taken into account if they affect the applicant's suitability as an instructor).

The applicant is required to read a number plate at a distance of 90 feet for letters of 3 1/8 inches in height (with glasses if worn).

Pass the D.S.A. qualifying examinations.


Application for the inclusion on the Register is made on the appropriate forms which are included in the D.S.A.'s 'Your Road To Becoming A Driving Instructor' (ADI 14), which can be purchased from the School on your assessment lesson. This publication should be studied carefully as it contains the pre-entry qualifications in more detail.
